My Passion Planner weekly has been a big help in the development and execution of my latest project.
Not only does the weekly planner have monthly and weekly spreads, but it also has plenty of blank and dot grid pages in the back of the notebook so I can write down whatever I want.
I took the idea of the mind-map from the front of the planner to create a mind-map for my project.
I take the mind-map and I sequence it out, larger bits first, for example, a chapter or a module. There is plenty of space in the back for this. Although if you want to do this, you could also do it on separate pieces of paper.
Then I take each chapter or module and I break that down into smaller pieces.
If need be, I take each smaller bit to yet another page and break it down into smaller pieces yet again.
I can also add in any notes on media, photos, videos, and so on that need to be either found and added, or created and added, with instructions about where they need to be put, how they need to be put, and so on.
Another page will be — when I get to that stage — for social media posts and the usual building up and hyping of the book or course or whatever it is that I am creating. I need to come up with pre-launch material, launch material, and post-launch material.
Then I can take all that I have been working on and plug the bits into the daily slots of the planner, but that is not the only thing that I do.
I start with the month. On the monthly spread, I create my deadlines and a short summary of what I should achieve by the deadline.
Next, on the weekly spreads for that month, I add in the deadlines, but I also add more details about what I am expecting to have gotten done by that time.
For example, for month 1, my deadline is to complete X amount of pages or X number of chapters or modules.
I break down what goes into the chapter, module, or pages, what the topic is, the break-down, all of it, but I list it out day by day. By Monday I want X number of pages or words. By Tuesday I want to be this far into the chapter. And so on and so forth.
Alongside the actual writing of the book/course, I write in daily tasks. This includes writing blog posts or posting on Instagram, creating a series of tweets for Twitter, whatever. This way I have an entire year in a single planner that encompasses all of the tasks for the creation of whatever project.
While I am planning and notching tasks into the monthly and daily slots, I also make sure I include times for me to rest. I include breaks, like taking a day off and going to the park with the family and the dogs. I also add in a bit of a reward system. If I reach X number of words or whatever by X date, then my reward is X.
What happens if the project only takes six months? Then I have room to do this with two projects.
What happens if the project only takes three months? Then I have room to do this with four projects.
This is one way I use a weekly Passion Planner to empower and power my work.
